Dr. Hoffman is the Associate Director and Senior Researcher of the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured (based in Washington, DC). She is also an adjunct professor at the University of California-San Francisco. Dr. Hoffman has focused her health services research career on inequities in access to health care, particularly for low-income populations, the uninsured, racial and ethnic minorities, and those with chronic health conditions. She builds her health policy work on an earlier foundation of nursing, largely spent as a clinical nurse specialist in cardiac care. Today she spends her volunteer time committed to the goals of Napa county’s CHI, as well as helping to build efforts towards a bi-national health insurance initiative between the U.S. and Mexico.
