Kids’ Health Care Day at the Capitol

On Thursday, August 23, a coalition of children’s advocacy groups, families, faith leaders and local children’s health initiative representatives will join together to hold a "Kids’ Health Care Day at the Capitol." Throughout the day, our coalition members will hold a number of special events and activities to emphasize the necessity and urgency to provide health coverage for all children. Through these events, we will seek to generate press attention for this issue and meet with elected officials about the importance of covering all kids now.

Come Join us in support of Health Insurance for ALL of California's Children

 Event Update:

  • Over the weekend, Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez indicated to Kitchen Cabinet members that he is willing to strengthen the kid's care provisions in his bill (AB-8) to the group's satisfaction and he is willing to say so publicly at the 8/23 press conference.  So the Speaker is now confirmed for the press conference.

  • The Governor’s office has been contacted and is enthusiastic about the event.  The budget is his priority, but there’s a good chance the Governor will attend our event.

  • Additionally, Perata, Laird and Steinberg have been contacted and are likely to attend the event.

  • CCHI has 6 families set to travel to Sacramento to share their stories to media and legislators
